Hunt Regs Story

Ben and Ian Martin, founders of Hunt Regs

We, The Martin Brothers, came up with the idea for Hunt Regs while teaching ourselves how to hunt during our time at college.

Regulations — We became tired of sorting through piles of brochures to find the necessary regulations and knew there was a better way to display this information. Thus, Hunt Regs was born. Our app allows hunters to quickly access the regulations for their target animal at their specific hunt location, eliminating the need to sort through complicated websites and brochures.

Journaling — While everyone has had an experience with a “roamer” buck that seems to move willy nilly, most animals have patterns to their movement, and the best way to keep track of those patterns is with a journal. While we have used game movement prediction apps in the past, the results were highly variable and often less than accurate for our hunting areas. We needed something that was directly applicable to OUR target animals at OUR hunting locations. With the Hunt Regs Journal, you enter the date, time, location, and what you saw or got on trail camera, and the app automatically saves the historical weather data for that time and place. You can then filter your entries to develop patterns and display them on our graphs to make these patterns obvious. Rather than flipping through a paper journal, the Hunt Regs journal enables you to easily manipulate your data and create an action plan to harvest your target animal.

Founders

Ben Martin

I graduated from Southern Methodist University with a BA in Business Management and BS in Environmental Studies. My passion lies in the outdoors with fishing and hunting, and I strive to protect the resource we all share and love. I am also a deer strategy nut, and am obsessed with running piles of cameras and trying to figure out when and where my target bucks will show up.

Ian Martin

I graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Finance and a concentration in energy studies. Like Ben, any free time I have is spent in a layout blind hunting waterfowl, sitting in the woods for a whitetail, or wishing I was. As ethical hunters, Ben and I strive to protect the game that we cherish so much in hopes that one day our children may enjoy it as well. We believe that Hunt Regs will help hunters better understand the regulations that protect our resource, ultimately achieving this goal.
